Piers Morgan wants to interview Elon Musk on his new TV show – calling the Tesla CEO a "crazy, brilliant, weird genius".

The former Good Morning Britain star event sent a personal invitation out to the Space X boss in front of his 7.9million followers on Twitter.

Taking to the platform on Monday (April 4), Piers revealed his thoughts on Musk in a teaser clip for his new TalkTV show Uncensored, which premieres April 25.

Speaking in the video, Piers said: "Elon Musk is a crazy, brilliant, weird genius and right now probably the most fascinating businessman in the world.

"This is the guy who bets the bank on electric cars, on going to space, all this stuff. He's been dreaming this big since he was a 10-year-old kid.

"And he's polarising, he can be rude and obnoxious, but I never see those as necessarily bad qualities in a human being.

"Ultimately he's a visionary, an entrepreneur and a guy who dreams big."

Piers went on to recall how his mother gave him a postcard with a flock of seagulls and a hippopotamus flying with them with the headline: "Ambition knows no bounds."

The broadcaster went on to say this "That's Elon Musk all over".

He then treated the clip as a personal invitation to come on and chat on his new show.

Captioning the video, Piers wrote: "My thoughts on ⁦@elonmusk – the world’s most fascinating man. (Elon, please consider this a formal pitch for an interview on my new show, ⁦@PiersUncensored)."

In another tweet, Piers said everybody in the world "should be more like Mr Musk."

He replied to a playful tweet from Elon which simply read: "Oh hi lol."

Replying to the multi-billionaire, Piers said: "Got to love this guy.. a genius maverick who speaks his mind, takes risks, loves stirring things up and really seems to enjoy his life. We should all be more like Mr Musk."

Piers recently announced his new primetime daily programme will debut on April 25 – and it will "put the world to rights."

Sharing the news on Twitter, Piers penned: "BREAKING: My new daily TV show Piers Morgan Uncensored will launch on Monday, April 25. It’s time to put the world to rights."
