Priscilla Presley’s relationship with Elvis lasted for many years, starting when she was just a teenager. While they were not officially together for some time after, she made a big impression on him, and he had her move from Germany to live with her. They were married for six years, but before his death Elvis had other women who were by his side.
What did Priscilla Presley make of his girlfriends?
After Priscilla and Elvis broke up in 1972, he met his first important girlfriend after her: Linda Thompson.
Linda and Elvis met on July 6, 1972, at a private movie screening in Memphis.
They dated for four years, beginning their relationship while Elvis and Priscilla were separated.

The marriage officially ended on October 9, 1973, when the divorce was finalised, at which point Linda had become a fixture of Elvis’ life.
According to Linda, Elvis was concerned about her meeting Priscilla, as he thought Priscilla would ‘feel bad’ about his lavish treatment of her.
Linda claimed in her 2016 memoir, A Little Thing Called Life, that Elvis said to her: “Honey, do me a favour. You’re probably going to meet Priscilla.
“Don’t wear all the rings and other jewellery I’ve given you because I never gave Priscilla that much jewellery.
“I gave her things, sure, but not nearly like I’ve showered you with gifts. I don’t want to make her feel bad.”
According to Linda, this was not the first moment where she felt Priscilla might have been comparing the two, as she claimed Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie made clear to her.
Linda claimed Lisa Marie approached her one day and said: “‘My mommy doesn’t like you very much…
“‘My mommy says it’s because when she was married to my daddy, he didn’t take her anywhere, but my daddy takes you everywhere.
“‘You are always with my daddy, and my mommy never got to be with my daddy. So that’s why.’”
In an interview with ITV’s Loose Women, however, Priscilla claimed to have a very different memory of their relationship, even making sure Linda was good to Elvis while they were together.
Speaking about the day of their divorce, Priscilla said: “When we were in the courtroom we were holding hands before the judge.
“We never went to court. We went behind the chambers, and we were sitting there and I was looking at his hands because they were so bloated…
“I asked him, he was dating Linda Thompson at the time, and I said, you know, ‘Is she taking care of you? Are you okay?’ And he said ‘Yes, I’m good. I’m alright.’”
This seems to have been a theme with Priscilla and Elvis’ later girlfriends, as Ginger Alden revealed in her memoir, Elvis and Ginger.
Ginger dated Elvis for a short while after he broke up with Linda, and claimed Priscilla was instructed to help her work out ‘how to take care’ of The King.
She wrote: “As I crossed the room, he looked up at me and said into the receiver, ‘Tell her how to take care of me,’ then held the phone out to me. ‘It’s Priscilla.’”
“A female voice instructed, ‘See that he eats right and gets plenty of rest.’”
She believed this moment must have been “as awkward for Priscilla as it had been for her,” but it shows how Priscilla was still very much involved in The King’s life even when she was no longer romantically involved with him.
