R&B singer Keith Martin found dead as fans pay tribute to Because of You star

Singer Keith Martin has died aged 57, according to local police reports.

The singer was found by neighbours at his apartment building in Quezon City, the Philippines where he had been living.

Reports claim neighbours had been complaining of a suspicious smell coming from an apartment on the 6th floor of his building at around 7.15am on Friday, March 25.

Staff at the complex are believed to have immediately informed local officials with entry to his flat being made just before 11am.

It's believed that Keith was found lying in his bed at the time of the discovery by local police officers.

The cause of Keith's death has not yet been released but an investigation will be passed to the Crime Investigation Section of the Quezon City Police District.

Speaking to a local news outlet, a friend of Keith claims he may have been dead for up to a week.

She added: "We are still waiting on the autopsy results. He was taken to the funeral home."

Keith was last seen in public on March 12, having performed at the wedding reception of Daryl Ong and his wife Dea Formilleza in Antipolo City, where he performed a Boys II Men medley with Ong, Thor Dulay and Michael Pangilinan.

Paying tribute, one fan said: "First Taylor Hawkins, now Keith Martin. The music industry is losing a lot of stars."

A second added: "Rest in peace Keith Martin."

"I listened to this song "Because of You" that reflects about anyone's self. So sad to hear this news, RIP Keith Martin," said a third.

Before a fourth typed: "Thank you for this beautiful song #KeithMartin may you rest in peace… We forever treasure you and this song.. RIP KEITH MARTIN."

While British singer Kyla penned: "In shock and in disbelief… You will be missed, Keith Martin…

"Thank you for the inspiration. You will leave a legacy of great music that is timeless and will always be remembered."

Kris Lawrence wrote: "Damn…this news is shocking. Gone too soon Keith Eric Martin. You will be missed brotha. Your music will live in our hearts forever."
