According to reports, Maya Jama will host both the winter edition of Love Island in early 2023, which is making its comeback after two years off-air, before taking on the hit summer series in Majorca.
An ITV source revealed: “Maya was ITV’s dream option. She is fun, beautiful and a brilliant presenter.
“She was discussed as a possible replacement for Caroline two years ago — but now the time is right. They think she’ll make the show her own and carry on from where Caroline left off.
“They’re just in the process of finalising the last few details — but barring any huge surprises she will be announced formally very soon.
“They are just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s,” the Sun mole added.
However, before the Love Island rumours began to circulate, Maya had already secured a place in the spotlight due to various presenting roles and her public relationship, and then break-up, with chart-topping rapper Stormzy.
But why did Maya and Stormzy call it quits and how long did they date for?
Here's everything you need to know:
How did Maya Jama and Stormzy meet?
Maya and Stormzy met at the Red Bull Culture Clash event in October 2014 and began dating the following January.
In their first interview together with Vogue back in February 2018, Maya retold the story of how the pair met.
She said: "We met at Red Bull Culture Clash.
"You know, if I’m really honest, I knew I fancied him from the start. But I didn’t want anything yet, because, you know, you’re trying to do the whole friend situation first, and then I’d do, like, obvious hints that I fancied him and then take it back because I didn’t know if he definitely liked me."
She added: "It was a childish phase. And then one day we just kissed, and that was that!"
The lovebirds soon became a power couple, publicly supporting each other in their new business ventures.
Stormzy also showed his devotion to his girlfriend by releasing a song on her 22nd birthday called Birthday Girl, and he also invited Maya to star in his music video for Big For Your Boots the following year.
The couple were going from strength to strength as they moved out into their own London home together with their dog Enzo.
Maya also showed her support for Stormzy when he performed at Wireless Festival and his history-making headline set at Glastonbury Festival in 2019.
Why did Maya Jama and Stormzy split?
Maya and Stormzy split after four years together in August 2019, just weeks after the presenter supported her rapper boyfriend on the UK's festival circuit and just days after her 25th birthday.
Maya’s publicist confirmed at the time: "Yes, I can confirm the relationship has ended and Maya has separated from Stormzy."
Maya wasted no time following the split as she moved her belongings out of their London home just days after the break-up.
A source close to former MTV host told The Sun: “Maya has moved out of their home in South West London.
“The decision isn’t one she has come to lightly, but ultimately the relationship has come to an end.
“She wants to focus on her TV and radio career for now.”
Prior to their split, the Vossi Bop rapper had said he was ready to propose to his partner.
He told the Sunday Mirror: "I’m still so young but I want to propose, it’s going to happen and I will do it right. She is so sick, she is the best."
Did Stormzy cheat on Maya Jama?
Following the couple's split, rumours began to circulate that the rapper had cheated on Maya with singer Jorja Smith.
Stormzy appeared to address the allegations in Lessons, a song from his album Heavy is The Head, which was released just weeks after the split.
The rapper seemingly admitted in the song that he had “done the dirt” during their four-year relationship.
The lyrics also include “the greatest love I ever knew, I poured it down the drain” and “it’s too hard to forgive”.
In another verse, Stormzy revealed that they spoke about children together.
The rapper said: "We were supposed to share a seed and let it grown in you, I can't imagine what I probably had you going through."
He also named Maya directly in the song, singing, "Fast forward now, my nephew’s still asking for his Auntie Maya, guess this is the karma for what I done to Maya.
"I just stood and let it burn, I couldn’t down the fire. Lord, I pray you make it easy, that’s my one desire.”
Maya did not comment on the song at the time but a year on from the split, she said in a Q&A with singer Madison Beer: “I feel that going out with an artist, you kind of sign an invisible contract where it’s like, ‘This is this, it’s everybody’s business’.”
Stormzy later denied to cheating on Maya and put an end to the rumours involving Jorja Smith.
In an interview with Hot 97 radio, Stormy was asked whether he was in a relationship with Jorja, to which the rapper replied, "No, no, no, we're not a thing. That's a rumour."
While addressing the cheating rumours, he added: "D'you know what? It's good that you asked me this. I didn't cheat. I didn't cheat!
"It's so mad because even with the song – I made a song called Lessons addressing the situation. And since the situation happened, there's was a lot of, like, "You're a cheat!"
"With the song, I kind of just stepped out and [took] full accountability.
"It was very inconsiderate. It didn't need for it to be cheating for it to be a disrespect. But I thought now was a good time to say that I didn't cheat on my ex."
Following the split, Maya has gone on to date NBA star and Kendall Jenner's ex, Ben Simmons.
However, the seemingly loved-up pair reportedly split last month after their conflicting schedules made it hard to make things work.
