Rylan Clark lashes out as Eurovision touts for reselling tickets for £12,000

Rylan Clark has hit out at outrageous reseller prices that have seen tickets for Eurovision go on sale for as much as £12,000.

Fans desperate to grab themselves a ticket for the annual musical extravaganza were left disappointed when it very rapidly sold out, with seats at the 11,000 capacity Liverpool Arena for the Grand Final of the event in May gone within 30 minutes.

Customers trying to book tickets had nine events to choose from with all tickets gone after 90 minutes.

Seats at the semi-final shows were officially priced between £30 to £290, with the grand final ranging from £80 to £380.

However, buyers looking to make a healthy profit off the events have already listed the tickets on sites including viagogo for thousands above the face value.

One VIP Grand Final ticket is currently listed at an eye-watering £12,057, while a general admission standing ticket is up for £3,500.

Rylan – who is a presenter at the event – has called out the ridiculous prices on Twitter.

He wrote: "To the people selling Eurovision tickets at RIDICULOUS resale prices that aren’t proper fans – p****,’ he posted on Twitter."

He wasn't the only one with many fans also taking to the social networking site to complain about the steep prices.

One wrote: "Outrageous. Resale tickets are already available, and at ridiculous prices."

A statement from Viagogo revealed they felt it was unlikely the tickets would sell at these prices.

They said: "Viagogo is a regulated marketplace and we want fans to have the options and flexibility they deserve for buying and selling tickets to live events.

"It’s important to stress that prices can change and are not necessarily an indication of what a fan will spend.

"Tickets listed at eye-catching, high levels rarely, if ever, sell. Having just gone on sale, demand for a Eurovision ticket is high, but last year some tickets for the event sold on viagogo for as little as £26. We encourage fans to keep monitoring our site for different options."

The Eurovision Song Contest airs Saturday, May 13 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
