Sam Smith Dragged on Twitter Over Their ‘Attention-Seeking’ Latex Jumpsuit at 2023 Brit Awards

The non-binary English musician, who scored four nominations at this year’s event, arrives at the show in a couture ensemble by designer Harri that features black blown-up pants and shoulder pads.

AceShowbiz -People were not impressed by Sam Smith‘s outfit at the 2023 Brit Awards. The “Unholy” hitmaker wore a black latex jumpsuit when attending the Saturday, February 11 event, and upon seeing their look, some Twitter users accused the singer of “attention-seeking.”

The non-binary musician arrived at the show in a couture ensemble by designer Harri. It featured black blown-up pants and shoulder pads. To complete their style, the English native wore black latex gloves and a pair of heeled boots.

Unsurprisingly, Sam became trending on Twitter. One person in particular opined, “Someone is desperate for attention…wow #samsmith.” Another commented, “The humiliation continues for Sam Smith – WTF is THAT?”

A third user argued, “As if I couldn’t hate Sam Smith enough then [they] f**king wears this monstrosity #BRITs#Brits2023.” Someone else, meanwhile, asked, “Is Sam Smith identifying as Missy Eliot now? #britawards#brits#TheBritAwards,” referring to the femcee’s infamous latex outfit in the music video for “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).”

Sam scored four nominations at the 43rd annual music ceremony. Among the categories are the Song of the Year as well as Best Pop/R&B categories. They were among the artists who initially called for its bosses to introduce gender-neutral categories and urged them to be “reflective of the society we live in.”

The BRITs made the change and since 2022 they have not used gendered categories for their awards. Instead, they combined the four male and female awards for U.K. and international artists into Best Artist and Best International Artist.
