Strictlys Helen Skelton runs after glass bottle thrown at her in street brawl

Petrified Helen Skelton was spotted running for cover when a glass bottle was thrown at her during a late-night street brawl.

In new images, the 39-year-old Strictly Come Dancing star could be seen hiding in an alleyway until cops arrived after being caught in the 3am fight.

On Saturday (January 28), the mum-of-three had been partying the night away with Strictly pals in the heart of Leeds after dancing her heart out on the live tour.

But things took a turn in the early hours of the morning after the terrified presenter jumped out of the way when thugs hurled a glass bottle near the group.

Nimble-footed Helen can be seen jumping in shock before diving into a nearby alley for cover while a pal – thought to be tour backing dancer Robbie Metoni – is seen jumping in the air with his hands in his pockets to avoid an injury.

The former Blue Peter star was soon comforted by her fellow stars – including DJ Tyler West, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds and CBBC star Molly Rainford – until the cops arrived and arrested a suspect at the scene.

An insider has since revealed to The Sun how the group got mixed up in the violent attack, as they reassured fans that no one was harmed in the evening fight.

A source told the publication: “Helen and her co-stars were walking home when they stumbled on a brutal fight which saw a bottle being broken.

“Two groups of lads were fighting and bottles and glasses went flying. A bottle came close to hitting Helen, smashing right by her feet, but she jumped out of the way.

“She hid in the alleyway for a few seconds until the coast was clear, but she looked shaken afterwards.

“Thankfully no one was hurt. Helen was shocked at the violence in front of her, but was pleased police were on hand.”

Daily Star has reached out to Helen Skelton's representatives for a comment.

It is understood officers arrived at the scene a few minutes later and broke the fight up which saw one man arrested.

The Strictly crew – which included pro dancers such as Kai Widdrington, Dianne Buswell and Neil Jones – had earlier performed their hearts out at the First Direct Arena in Leeds before heading out to town centre.

The stars, who were staying at the Dakota hotel for Thursday and Friday night’s shows, were spotted heading into a nightclub called Dollhouse before popping into a swanky speakeasy bar titled The Back Room.

But as they were walking along Call Lane – which is overflowing with bars and clubs – a fight erupted between two groups of men, with bottles and glasses quickly brandished as weapons.

Shocked onlookers outside the bar witnessed the attack before the Strictly stars rushed to comfort Helen, who rocked a smart tartan jacket which she teamed with a pair of black leather-look leggings and matching black boots.

West Yorkshire Police have since confirmed: “At 2.56am on Friday, police were called to a report of a fight involving a group of males in Duncan Street and Call Lane in Leeds city centre.

“Officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of affray. He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing. There were no reports of any injuries.”
