Strictly’s John Whaite supported by fans after cryptic post about his love life

Strictly Come Dancing fans have rushed to send John Whaite support following his recent Instagram post.

The dancing show finalist, who also won the Great British Bake Off in 2012, has been with Paul Atkins for 14 years.

John, 33, posted a black and white picture of them both on Monday (May 30) alongside a lengthy caption where he wrote that “relationships are complicated” and not necessarily a “blissful merging of freedoms” but both “joyous and painful”.

He went on to say: "We learn more about ourselves on a daily – if not hourly – basis, and we grow from those lessons.

“After 14 years I’m blessed to have this man in my life, and how we define what we have is ours alone.

“So do enjoy the work we both share publicly, but please respect that we all have a sacred and precious right to privacy.”

John’s famous friends and adoring fans were quick to jump in with words of encouragement.

Denise Van Outen posted some heart emojis while fellow GBBO baker Rahul Mandal said: “Sending love to you both.”

Daily Star has reached out to John's rep for a comment.

In other news, John exclusively revealed to the Daily Star that he has turned down loads of big cash offers since being on Strictly in order to protect his mental health.

He said: "After I did Bake Off in 2012, I had a lot of ups and downs.

"So I had to work hard to get to a place where I was comfortable in my life. Since then I’ve always said that this life is the one I’m meant to have.

"Because of Strictly, loads of offers have come in.”

John added: "But I am being careful about what I pick.

"I’m being careful about what I say ‘Yes’ to, because I like my life and don’t want it to change too much."
