Strictly’s Rylan Clark explains the real reason his quit BBC series It Takes Two

Rylan Clark has finally revealed the real reason why he quit Strictly Come Dancing’s spin-off series It Takes Two.

The former X Factor star has presented the BBC One evening show for four year alongside co-hosts Zoe Ball and Janette Manrara.

But last week the TV presenter announced he was finally hanging up his dancing shoes for good as he said a fond farewell to the Strictly studios.

Since his shocking exit, fans have speculated that he stepped down from the show to host the rebooted series of Big Brother.

But Rylan quickly put an end to rumours as he presented his BBC Radio 2 morning show over the weekend, sharing the real reason he left the long-running programme.

He said: “So I just want to say publicly to all the Strictly family, I've loved you dearly for the last four years.

“Can I just confirm please as well, I'm seeing all the rumours. Please carry on with your rumours, I ain’t going anywhere darling.

“It was just my time to say thank you and you know, go and I don’t know, sit indoors in my pyjamas for a bit.”

The TV personality announced the news he was stepping back from the show with a lengthy statement online.

He wrote: “After four fantastic years it’s time for me to hand up my glittery jacket and say goodbye to It Takes Two.

“I’ve had the best time hosting alongside Janette and Zoe and I can’t thank the team enough for always putting on a great show.

“I’ve been welcomed into the Strictly family and will firmly hold that title dear to me.

“The time has come for me to pass on the baton to someone else and explore what else life has for me.

“Thank you Strictly, you will always have my heart… and my dancing feet,” he concluded.

Since his announcement, bookies have made him the odds-on favourite to land the highly sought-after role fronting ITV2’s new version of Big Brother in the wake of the news.

Coral spokesperson John Hill said: “Rylan has stepped down from his role as host of Strictly’s It Takes Two and that has prompted support in our betting for him to present Big Brother when it returns to our screens later this year.”
