The Inbetweeners cast members have had varied careers since the show – from switching to online streaming to going down the reality TV route and becoming television pin-ups.

The classic E4 series ran from 2008 to 2010 and proved so popular that it spawned two films in 2011 and 2014.

In keeping with the hilarious programme, the first film follows the misadventures of four school friends – Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley) and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) – as they embark on their first "lads' holiday".

The sequel was set in Australia, with the lads getting up to no good as usual.

It's been seven years since the characters were last seen, but it can only be assumed they'd still be getting into trouble.

But what about the stars who played the iconic characters?

Joe Thomas – Simon Cooper

It was very fortunate that Simon's romance with Carli D'Amato didn't actually work out, otherwise he might not have joined the lads' on holiday in a bid to chase after her.

The unlucky chap always seemed to be on the wrong side of fortune.

In the film, after giving up on Carli, he realised Lucy – played by Tamla Kari – was the girl for him and attempted to swim across the sea to be with her.

But it ended in catastrophe and he was airlifted out of the water after almost drowning – all while the entire boat party watched from the fun and booze-fuelled yacht.

Joe Thomas went on to play a very similar character in Fresh Meat which aired on Channel 4.

He went on to have quite a successful movie career including Scottish Mussel, The Dark Universe and the Straw Donkey.

The TV star is also engaged to his on-screen Inbetweeners girlfriend Hannah Tointon, and they've been together since 2012.

Simon Bird – Will McKenzie

Will McKenzie was best known as "Briefcase" – the geek trying to just get a good education in the sitcom.

Although he found himself in many embarrassing situations, he seemed to have no trouble with attracting many beautiful ladies.

In the movie, Will meets the stunning Alison who discovers her boyfriend has cheated and strikes up a romance with loveable geek.

After The Inbetweeners, actor Simon Bird went on to star in another hit comedy – Friday Night Dinner.

In 2013 he helped to create the Sky comedy Chickens alongside his former co-star Joe Thomas and also starred in the production.

His distinctive voice can also be recognised on many of The Trainline adverts too.

In real life, Simon is married to Lisa Owens with the pair originally meeting at Cambridge University and later tying the knot in 2012.

They share two children together who are kept away from the limelight.

James Buckley – Jay Cartwright

Jay Cartwright was best known for telling white lies and wasn't impressing anyone – other than Neil Sutherland.

In the first film, Jay falls for Jane but was initially put off by her gestures of affection due to her curves.

His sensitive side is exposed in the sequel film as he travels across Australia to find Jane in an attempt to win her back.

Since finding fame on the big screen James Buckley has had many acting opportunities – including the American horror film The Pyramid in 2014.

Other acting credits include Rock & Chips, Zapped, White Gold and an appearance in an episode of Doctor Who.

During lockdown it was claimed that James made a very lucrative amount of cash from selling fan messages.

His video's became so popular, it was estimated he'd earned a whopping £300,000 using the platform Cameo.

Aside from his working life, he is married to ex-model Clair Meek.

The pair tied the knot in 2012 and share two children together.

Nowadays, he's a Twitch streamer and YouTuber, with his Twitch channel named Completed It Mate – a nod to his character's cocky attitude in The Inbetweeners.

Blake Harrison – Neil Sutherland

Whatever Neil Sutherland lacked in intelligence he certainly made up for with his epic dance moves.

Neil's legendary skills went viral following the launch of the first film and fans across the globe were copying the hilarious elbow routine.

Since the end of the Inbetweeners, much like his co-stars, Blake has also had quite a successful TV career on the small screen.

Ditching his dim-witted character, Blake went on the star in programmes such as Prime Suspect 1973, Death In Paradise and Trust Me.

In 2018, he decided to step away from his acting career and instead took to the director's chair.

Blake proved to have a natural flare and ended up bagging himself an award for the short film Hooves of Clay.

The TV star is married to Kerry Lynch and the pair have two children.

Emily Atack – Charlotte Hinchcliffe

Stunning Charlotte seemed to have a thing for geeky Will and none of his chums could quite believe his luck.

His bubble was burst when Charlotte explained it was all a stunt to reconcile with her ex-boyfriend Donovan.

Following the success of the series, Emily managed to land herself a spot on ITV's hit skating show, Dancing On Ice.

She joined the show in 2010 and was paired with professional skater Fred Palascak, with the pair being voted off in the eighth week.

It seemed Emily had a taste for reality TV and she later ventured down under, appearing on I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2018 and even returned to present the Extra Camp's spin off show.

More recently, she joined the Keith Lemon's cast on Celebrity Juice as team captain along with host Laura Whitmore.

Emily also stepped out of her comfort zone and explored stand-up comedy much like her famous mum Kate Robbins.

The rumour mill was sent into a spin when the Inbetweeners Reunion was announced and it was alleged that Emily was struck off within 24 hours of it going live.

The Sun reported at the time that James was afraid his wife would discover their reported fling which happened when they were both single and working together, so told told producers "it's her or me".

A source told the publication: "Emily got a call from producers 24 hours before she was due on set.

"They were deeply embarrassed and apologetic. They had to explain that James had asked she be taken off the show.

"The pair had a couple of cheeky snogs back in the day when they were both single. But James didn't want it to become a major issue on the reunion, or with his wife Clair."
