The One Show star Gyles Brandreth wants to be “mummified” when he dies – after his wife told him to “get stuffed”.
The actor, TV presenter, author and ex-Tory MP said he fancies having his body preserved like 19th Century philosopher Jeremy Bentham.
Brandreth, 73, says he also wants to be a mummy so he can honour wife Michele’s wishes.
Gyles tweeted: “I’m investigating the possibility of being mummified post mortem – like the late great Jeremy Bentham who is still on view @ucl in London.
“My wife occasionally tells me to get stuffed. Eventually I will be!’’
Fans rushed to joke about his hilarious wish.
One messaged: “Take care Gyles it’s easy to get too wrapped up in this sort of thing.’’
Another asked: “Will you be wearing one of your jumpers?’’
One wag quipped: “What do you call a mummy covered in chocolate and nuts? A Pharaoh Roche.’’
“My kind of joke,’’ Gyles replied.

He also wanted to be occasionally wheeled into meetings with still-living pals who missed him.
Bentham, who died in 1832, aged 84, got his last wishes and his remains are on display in University College London.
