While a third wrote: "Love Willam Shatner but we have seen this before #thismorning."

Meanwhile, host Philip Schofield explained that they had brought back the old interview to mark William Shatner, 90, heading into space today.

The legendary Star Trek actor, who played Captain Kirk in the iconic 1960s series – will be part of a four-person crew heading into space.

He will board the Blue Origin rocket today which will blast off from Texas, United States.

It is reported that Shatner was invited to be part of the space mission by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos – who is believed to be a Star Trek fans.

High winds have already set back the original lift-off by 24 hours at the launch site.

Speaking about the adventure ahead, the Canadian actor said: "I'm thrilled and anxious and a little nervous and a little frightened about this whole new adventure."

"But I've got to think that once it's done, once I've been into space and seen the universe and seen our Earth and the contrast between that hostility and this warmth, and how important it is to keep the Earth alive so that we don't wreck it, we human beings don't wreck it, that contrast in all of that is so dramatic to me."
