Ulrika Jonsson ‘angry’ at Christine McGuinness’ portrayal of ‘perfect marriage’

TV legend Ulrika Jonsson has admitted she "slightly despises" Christine McGuinness over her past portrayal of the "perfect married life".

The 55-year-old hit back after Christine claimed that she stayed in her marriage to TV presenter and Top Gear host Paddy McGuinness out of a fear of change, blasting her previous portrayal of "love, light and happiness" in her "nigh-on perfect married life" on social media.

"People, like Christine, but by no means her alone, may have done everything in their power to create a public perception of utter happiness and marital bliss," Ulrika started.

"But some people’s insistence on portraying a nigh-on perfect married life gets my goat. It’s no exaggeration to say that it just plain winds people up because it’s not the whole truth."

Ulrika went on to explain why Christine reminded her of why she "hates marriage" and the "happy couples" like Paddy and Christine before their split was publicly announced.

She wrote in her column for The Sun: "When Christine and Paddy announced their separation last year, I wasn’t stunned because it made me wonder, yet again, if they were yet another seemingly “happy couple” where all is not as it seems.

"Those duos who give off a vibe of two people who’ve made a huge success of their long relationship despite the challenges of parenthood, external temptation and knowing that they’ve both substantially changed as people over the years."

Admitting her "slight" hatred for marriage, Ulrika stated that it wasn't because she "sees her divorces as failures" but because of people's fear of "losing what they have and what they want in their future."

Ulrika sympathised with Christine's parenting that is "compounded" by autism but ultimately states that she's certain parenting is more like a "walk in Jurassic Park."

"Her social media posts exude love, light and happiness," she wrote. "I’m sure that behind the scenes parenting is more like a walk in Jurassic Park, like it is for all of us."
