Victoria Beckham reunites with Spice Girls bandmate Mel B to celebrate her MBE

The Spice Girls reunited yesterday (4 May) to celebrate Mel B being awarded an MBE for her services to domestic abuse charities and awareness.

Melanie Brown, also known as Scary Spice, received the honour from the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace in London.

The former Spice Girl, 46, gave a heartfelt speech, explaining how she dedicated her award to “all the other women” who suffer domestic abuse.

When Prince William awarded Mel B, he “commended” her for her work and said he was “so sorry” she had experienced “such a horrible time.”

Victoria Beckham came along for the celebrations, calling her friend Mel a “true hero” and said she was “honoured” to dress her friend for the event.

Victoria uploaded a lovely photo of herself and Mel after the award ceremony to her Instagram stories. Victoria’s mum, Jackie Adams and Mel’s mother Andrea also posed for the picture.

All women looked gorgeous as they were draped in clothes all directly from Victoria Beckham’s clothing line.

Mel wore a glamorous figure-hugging midi red dress, matching fascinator and white court heels.

She posed next to Jackie, who wore a light mint coloured suit. Andrea wore a white midi dress and Victoria wore a slinky long black maxi dress.

Victoria gushed, “From delivering reports on the economics of abuse to 10 Downing Street to featuring in an awareness-raising music video, Mel has continued to push for change and speak for women in need.”

Mel posed proudly with her Member of the Order of the British Empire Medal, outside the palace.

The singer starred in a harrowing short film, called Love Should Not Hurt, which explored domestic violence.

The film was directed by Fabio D’Andrea, showing the main character escaping an abusive relationship.

In 2018, Mel split from her ex-partner Stephen Belafonte, after she claimed he was physically abusive and forced her to do things she was uncomfortable with – claims that he has denied.

Since the alleged ordeal, Mel has dedicated her time to working with Women’s Aid.

The charity offers support and help for women in children stuck in abusive domestic lives.

Mel told PA news agency: “I never thought I would be here getting this MBE for the work I’ve been doing.

“It’s amazing to have but it's not just for me – it’s for all those other women.

“I’ve had a really amazing life so far and it was turned into something horrible for 10 years and I’ve made something worthy.”
