30p Tesco Value milk chocolate bar from 2006 being flogged on Ebay for £10,000

A 16-year-old bar of Tesco Value milk chocolate has gone on sale on eBay for a whopping £10,000.

The strange item, found by the Daily Star during a late-night online shopping trawl, is described as being a “collectible” – and cost around 30p when it was first for sale in 2006.

It comes in its original old-style blue and white Tesco Value packaging, and was part of the supermarket's home baking range.

The seller, 619ozzy, who offers to ship the item with Royal Mail Signed For second class, writes: “Vintage Tesco value cooking chocolate from 2006!

“In good condition, no tears to packaging. Some signs of age related wear on the corners however the chocolate bar is still in one piece.”

There is one watcher on the item, and eBay states you can spread the eye-watering amount of money across 24 monthly payments of just £471.65 per month.

And to add to the already high price, there is a £4.20 charge for delivery, too.

The item is actually listed as a charity sale, with 80% of the money going towards the BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust, which facilitates education and training in relation to the steam locomotive 71000 Duke of Gloucester.

The locomotive, first built in 1954, is currently based in Tyseley, Birmingham, where it is undergoing huge regeneration works with the hope of returning to mainline operation soon.

A spokesman for the charity said: “The Duke is a much-loved locomotive inspiring all age groups and appealing to both stalwart steam enthusiasts and those who are new to the appeal of steam railways.

“What all supporters of the Duke have in common is a deep-seated affection for this unique and very special piece of our steam railway heritage.

“Modifications have been made to the original design, resulting in one of the most efficient and powerful steam locomotives ever to run in Britain.”

The Daily Star has reached out to the seller for more details.
