Bible prophecy: Earthquake comparable to flood of Noah will strike Israel, expert claims

Tom Meyer recites Revelation 16 from the Bible

Bible prophecy speaks of many terrifying events that will unfold in the final days of mankind’s time on Earth. From wars and rumours of war to the seven-year period of strife known as the Great Tribulation, many devout Christians believe the clock is ticking down until Christ returns to Jerusalem. When these terrifying times arrive, a scripture expert known as the Bible Memory Man told Express.co.uk the disasters will rival the cataclysms of the Old Testament.

Tom Meyer, a professor of Bible studies at Shasta Bible College and Graduate School, said: “Around 40 major earthquakes – those greater than 6.0 on the Richter scale – have been recorded by historians in the Holy Land since the time of Jesus Christ.

“However, the greatest earthquake is yet to come and could happen within our lifetimes.”

Professor Meyer believes a major earthquake will hit the fabled Mount of Olives, which is a ridge running east of Jerusalem’s Old City.

The Bible expert’s warning comes after a team of Israeli researchers warned of an earthquake that will kill hundreds in the next few years.

Scientists drilling into the Red Sea found tension along a fault line that might be showing signs of rupturing.

According to Bible prophecy, Jesus will return to the Mount of Olives in the End Days to establish His kingdom upon Earth.

Quite astonishingly, a major fault line has been discovered under the Mount of Olives by geologists in the 1960s.

The fault line, which is a fracture or multiple fractures between two blocks of rock, was found when the Jordanian government attempted to build a hotel upon the mount in 1964.

Professor Meyer said: “The Jordanian engineers were forced to move the original location of the hotel, now called The Seven Arches Hotel, from its original location directly east of the former Temple Mount to a location farther south on the Mount of Olives ridge.

Turkey: Bible thought to be 1,000-years-old found in 2015

“According to biblical prophecy, in the same way that Jesus the Jewish Messiah ascended from the Mount of Olives to heaven after His resurrection (Acts 1:11), so he will return to the same exact spot at the Second Coming.

“This mountain was the place of His agony on the night before His crucifixion, and it will be the place of His triumph at the culmination of the Seven Year Tribulation – recorded in the book of Revelation – when he ushers in his literal 1,000-year reign from Jerusalem.”

Archaeologists recently uncovered the ruins of a 1,500-year-old Byzantine church constructed near to the site.

Professor Meyer compared the Biblical earthquake to divine interventions previously mentioned in the Old Testament.

Only this time, the Bible expert predicts God will intervene to rescue Jerusalem from the clutches of the Antichrist and his cohort.

He said: “As YHWH intervened around 1440 BC (Exodus 14:20) to deliver Israel, who was surrounded on all sides by the Egyptian army, by parting the Red Sea, so again He will intervene by parting the Mount of Olives to provide Israel, who will be besieged in Jerusalem by the Antichrist, a way of escape yet again into the wilderness.

“Completing the judgments of the book of Revelation, this great eschatological earthquake which shakes down the kingdom of the Antichrist is also spoken of by the Old Testament prophets Isaiah (Isaiah 2:19), Haggai (Haggai 2:21), and Zechariah (Zechariah 14:4).

“The effects of this final supernatural intervention are so dramatic that they are comparable to the flood of Noah when the islands sank into the sea and no mountains were to be found (Revelation 16:20).”

According to Professor Meyer, there are approximately seven times more prophecies about Jesus’s Second Coming than there are about his birth.

The Bible expert added: “As all the prophecies concerning His First Coming were literally fulfilled, so all the prophecies concerning His Second Coming will also be literally fulfilled, and none is as dramatic as this coming earthquake that will cause the earth to stagger like a drunkard.”

Professor Meyer is known as the Bible Memory Man as he has memorised more than 20 books from the Bible.

He has previously told Express.co.uk the clock has been ticking on humanity since Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
