Dog owners moan needy breed is ‘ruining their sex life’ as they keep barging in

Cockapoo owners say they are sex-starved because of their attention-seeking pets.

They reckon the pooches come into the room when they start having nookie and stare at them or whine.

Couples are often too embarrassed to carry on.

One person wrote on Facebook page Cockapoo Owners Club (UK): “This is Tiggy. She’s become a total passion killer, any advice on how other cockapoo owners tackle this.”

Another added: “They are the best contraceptive going.”

A third said: “Our lad just stands and stares.”

Yet another person wrote: “Ours whines when things get hot and heavy. It is very off-putting.”

The teddy bear-faced furballs sell for up to £4,000 a pup and many owners who fall in love with their pups also allow them to sleep in their beds.

One person suggested investing in a crate so the dog can be safely locked away during love-making.

The breed is noted as needy and can often display anxiety issues.

Website Pets4homes revealed: “Separation anxiety is a behavioural issue that can develop in any type of dog at any age, and the cockapoo is no different.

“A dog that suffers from separation anxiety won’t tolerate being left alone for very long – if at all – and will only be happy when you are with them, even potentially going as far as following you around the house for constant company.”

The dogs will refuse “to settle into their own crate or bed either when you go out or are simply in another room” and can cry at if not permitted to sleep in the same room as you.

The site tells owners: “From the first week when you bring your new cockapoo puppy home, it is important to start setting a routine and introducing boundaries. These things will help your cockapoo to feel secure and know what to expect from their lives and their owners, which they need to thrive.

“It is important to spend lots of time with your pup and not to leave them alone for too long, but from the very beginning, you should also start getting your dog used to being left in one room while you go to another, and being left on their own at home while you pop out without making a fuss.”
