Horrifying ‘half-rat, half-worm’ like creature filmed crawling on bedroom wall

A man was left with "goosebumps" when he spotted a bizarre slug-like creature with a long-tail crawling on his bedroom wall.

In the clip, the mysterious animal climbs the wall with a wavelike movement in its squishy body.

Thawiwat Sangnoi said the slimy creature had a rat-like tail and worm-like body when they saw it inside their house in Roi Et province, Thailand.

He said: "I got goosebumps looking at that thing, I have no clue what it is. It looked like an alien."

The creature turned out to be a rat-tailed maggot which turns into hoverflies – using their long tails as a snorkel when underwater.

Many species of hoverfly rat-tailed maggots are native to the UK and they thrive in stagnant water with low oxygen content.

They have been spotted in manure, cesspools, and even the toilet block at Glastonbury Festival in 2017.

It's not the first time these odd-looking maggots have caused panic and disgust.

A woman was left nauseated when she spotted one of the larvae roaming around her kitchen and begged people for advice.

Bex Deen – who was filming the chilling sight in her home in Southampton – could be heard saying: "It’s an alien, oh my god.

"It’s disgusting. I’ve never seen anything like it. What is it?"

After the discovery, Bex asked her friends what they thought it could be.

"That thing is absolutely gross," one said.

"I’ve never seen something so disgusting… get rid of that please."

Another creepy video showed dozens of the maggots wriggling around on a man's hands, with horrified people thinking they must be mutilated baby mice.
