A boy dubbed “real-life Mowgli” has been given a new home after returning from life living in the jungle.
Zanziman Ellie fled his home in Rwanda to live in the jungle and his story became well-known after a documentary about his life was aired on YouTube in 2021.
Ellie was born in 1999 and almost immediately shunned by his community because of his physical appearance, which is affected by his condition, microcephaly, where a baby is born with its head much smaller than normal.

He was also denied access to education on the basis he did not have the mental capacity to concentrate in class – and was rumoured to spend his days eating grass outdoors having fled to live in the jungle by himself.
He was reunited with his parents a few years ago and started school last year having raised funds to cover the costs of attending the Ubumwe Community Center, Gisenyi, Rwanda – a special needs school.
But a new update on his life shows the 23-year-old is now thriving and has a new home.
Ellie, alongside his mother, were shown in a new video update moving into a home seemingly donated to them by a local organisation.

The mother and son are shown being taken into the new home via the lounge which has three brand new couches and a television.
And it is the latter that appears to confuse and amaze the pair – with the mother claiming it would stop her from “getting lonely” while her son attends the special needs school.
Ellie is shown marvelling at the relatively small television which appears to be showing the news.
The house has three bedrooms and one living room.
It also electricity and running water, which are both rarities in Rwanda.

The mum said: “We used to live in and old house which was going to fall anytime.
“I never knew my wishes were going to come true.
“This house has each and everything for this house to be a home.
“This is heaven on earth.
“You have brought me this device where I see people talking to me (the television).
“I will never feel lonely again.”

Ellie is actually shown trying to control the television remote, while waiving at the people on the screen.
It also appears the family were given a cow to go with the home, which was tied up in a special outside area.
The video was filmed by Afrimax TV – which appears to have donated the house to the family.
Zanziaman recently learned to ride a bike, too.
According to one of his teachers, he was given a bike after appearing to “show an interest” in them.
He said: “Zanziman now likes to interact with others by playing and hugging.
“Among the important lessons he has learned is sanitation – how to clean himself, wash his clothes, brush his teeth.
“He can do this very well by himself now, and nobody helps him to do it any more.
“At the beginning, it looked impossible, but it took some time and we are now all happy with the progress he is making.”
