Billionaire Jeff Bezos will be heading into space onboard one of his Blue Origin rockets. The Amazon founder said he and his brother will be going on an excursion into space on July 20.
Mr Bezos announced the plans in an Instagram post.
He said: “Ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space.
“On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend.”
In the video, Mr Bezos said: “To see the Earth from space, it changes you.
“I want to go on this flight because it is something I have wanted to do all my life.”
A total of six passengers will be on board the flight – with the capsule named New Shepard after the first American in space, Alan Shepard – one of which will be a privately auctioned seat.
Blue Origin said it will auction the final seat, with the proceeds going to the space firm’s foundation.
The New Shepard will fly the six passengers 62 miles (100 kilometres) above Earth’s surface.
They will then sit in orbit for 10 minutes where they will experience weightlessness.
The six on board the rocket will also be able to see the curvature of the Earth before returning to Earth.
One of the seats has been autioned off, with the current bid already exceeding $2.8 million.
