A man was thoroughly spooked when his window kept opening in the middle of the night and set up a camera to find out why.

In a clip from Discovery's Unexplained: Caught on Camera, the metal window latch suddenly moves as if being powered by an invisible force – or perhaps a "ghost".

The window creaks and in one fluid movement it is suddenly wide open.

Sounding freaked out, the homeowner told the channel: "I couldn't actually believe what I was seeing, I thought 'No, this can't be happening'."

He went on to add: "The window latch pops up, scary just seeing that. And then the window opens.

"Quite quickly actually. It didn't slam shut, it just stayed open."

The clip was shared on TikTok by the paranormal account @travelchannel which often uploads mysterious and "unexplained" events conspiracy theorists link to aliens, ghosts, or demons.

It was watched more than 700,000 times and although many believers thought it was credible, other people were not so easily taken in.

One person commented: "This type of stuff is common now, demons aren't hiding anymore and I'm pretty sure they love social media."

Sounding spooked, another said: "Oh heck no I would be out of there in two shakes of a squirrel's tail."

A third viewer joked: "He cannot believe it. Neither can we!"

"The ghost just wanted some fresh air," quipped someone else.

Meanwhile, other people debated how the scene could have been filmed, with some suggesting there was a very thin wire moving the window latch and others thinking it was done with stop motion.

This comes after a woman claims to have spotted a "ghost" during virtual flat viewing and shows footage of a woman sleeping on a bed before suddenly vanishing.

And CCTV has been said to show a "ghost" knock over wine bottles in a supermarket.
