Move aside, Daniel Craig! AI creates the 'perfect' James Bond

Move aside, Daniel Craig! AI creates the ‘perfect’ James Bond – and the handsome creation looks just like one of the bookies’ favourites

  • An artificial intelligence (AI) was asked to generate an image of the next Bond
  • He must be under 40 and at least 5’10”, according to the franchise’s producers
  • The resulting gentleman bears a striking resemblance to one British actor

While we know James Bond will soon be getting a new look following the departure of Daniel Craig, who will be portraying the iconic spy next remains a mystery.

But while we all have been dream casting Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool has come up with someone completely new.

A video game company provided the DeepDream Al software with the current requirements for Bond, set out by producer Barbara Broccoli in August last year.

These were that the actor must be a British male under 40 and stand at over 5’10” tall.

With an alluring gaze, perfectly tousled hairstyle and chiselled jawline, the man the AI generated is reminiscent of one of the bookies’ favourites.

This is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a 32-year-old actor born in High Wycombe, so certainly fits the requirements set out by Eon Productions, according to the Daily Star

In November, Aaron was said to be a top choice for the role after a successful audition.

‘Aaron went for a screen test to be the next Bond in September and producers and Barbara loved him,’ a source told The Sun at the time.

‘He is now one of the front-runners.’

Aaron, who is married to Fifty Shades Of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson, 55, has starred in the Kick-Ass movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Godzilla and Bullet Train.

He also has curly dark hair, piercing eyes and the classic good looks synonymous with the spy, making him a dead ringer of the AI-generated Bond.

However, the new image, which shows a man in a crisp white shirt and straight black tie holding an old-fashioned camera, does have one crucial giveaway.

If you look closely at his right hand, you can see that he appears to have five fingers  on top of a thumb, and his pinky and ring fingers are also deformed.

People with too many or too few fingers seems to be the downfall among AI-generated images, as it has been noted time and time again.

Twitter user @Rural_Anarchy posted: ‘Pretty soon, the only way to tell will be to count the fingers. 5 and it’s real, 6 it’s questionable, 7 and it’s definitely AI generated.’

Unwind Media also prompted the DeepDream Al to generate an image of the next ‘Bond Girl’, instructing it to be a British actress in her mid-twenties and 5’7″ tall. The resulting image (pictured) showed a young woman with bright blue eyes and blonde flowing hair

This also shows a resemblance to Charlotte Kirk (pictured), a 30-year-old actress who is the latest tipped to be the next Bond girl, according to The Mirror

The AI Bond was commissioned by game company Unwind Media, which told The Times that the image having ‘such a close resemblance’ to Taylor-Johnson was exciting.

It added: ‘It’ll be amazing if he actually lands the role now!’

Unwind Media also prompted the DeepDream Al to generate an image of the next ‘Bond Girl’, instructing it to be a British actress in her mid-twenties and 5’7″ tall.

The resulting image showed an airbrushed young woman with bright blue eyes, blonde flowing hair, high cheekbones and gold hoop earrings.

This also shows a resemblance to Charlotte Kirk, a 30-year-old actress who is the latest tipped to be the next Bond girl, according to The Mirror.

She was reportedly seen at studios responsible for filming the next instalment of the Bond franchise, and is said to be in talks with bosses.

The British starlet appeared in Ocean’s 8 alongside Sandra Bullock, as well as Vice and No Panic with a Hint of Hysteria.

From sports cars that can drive UNDERWATER to jet packs that can soar at 85mph: The James Bond gadgets that now exist in real life

There are many things that James Bond is well known for, including martinis, a brassy theme song and an almost unbelievable amount of success with wooing the ladies.

But what makes the fictional spy truly iconic is his vast array of high-tech, and occasionally absurd, gadgetry.

The first Bond novel, ‘Casino Royale’, was published in 1952, but Ian Fleming’s character didn’t become properly associated with gizmos until he hit the screens a decade later.

MailOnline takes a look at some of the Bond technologies that once seemed far-fetched, but now exist in real life.

This includes underwater cars, such as that featured in The Spy Who Loved Me, jet packs like the one in 1965’s Thunderball, and bionic hands like those used by the eponymous villain In Dr. No.
