A cigar-shaped craft filmed hovering apparently motionless over California has sparked a conspiracy meltdown.
The baffling footage emerged on YouTube on January 31 and was captioned: “ UFO over the Pacific.”
It shows a long, black shape hovering in the sky which, for the entirety of the clip, doesn’t move once.
The strange object – which bears a startling resemblance to a whole host of cigar-shaped UFOs seen across the US in recent months – has set conspiracy fanatics’ tongues wagging.
Since being posted by Antoni ENKI, it has been seen hundreds of times.
“This is not a UFO but a flying cigar,” one viewer wrote.
Another admitted the sight was “intriguing”.
Such objects are sometimes explained as nothing more than blimps. The airship looks like a cigar from the distance and its slow movement can often see them being compared to UFOs.
But that plausible explanation hasn’t stopped conspiracy theorists becoming convinced that cigar-shaped UFOs have been plaguing the US over recent months.
In January, YouTuber Donald Sanders shared a 40-second recording of what seemed like similar “craft” in the night sky.
Last year, the objects were also spotted in the US state. Some suggested they may have been nothing more than the reflection of the videographer’s light bulbs while others were more convinced by the alien explanation.
Similarly-shaped UFOs were also seen across eight US states in 2019.
UFO researcher Jane Kyle suggested the rise of the Space Force could lead to more sightings in the future.
“I definitely think it will make people look up to the sky more,” she said.
“And wonder why is the military up there and what is going up there?
“That alone could increase the number of sightings, especially if you couple that with all the news stories.
“I think it could absolutely happen – I’m not sure what would be the cause of that.
“Whether it would be our own Space Force being more out in the open.”
