People slam ‘Gimp Man of Essex’ after creepy latex-clad men seen elsewhere

People have slammed a man calling himself the 'Gimp Man of Essex' following reports of a similar latex-clad man approaching women at night elsewhere in the UK.

The man going by @gimpmanofessex on TikTok, with the name Robert Jubbly elsewhere on his profile, posted a video on Wednesday (June 29) walking through Colchester, head to toe in black latex.

Other videos on his profile suggest he's been going out in public dressed like that since the start of last year, although it is his latest video that's gained attention.

It has now been viewed over 320,000 times and has more than 2,000 comments, with most people left baffled.

"You should be jailed for disturbing the peace," wrote TikTok star Tom Birchy.

"Dad come home please," someone else joked.

Several people quipped that he was the "most normal Colchester resident" and another wrote "only in Colchester".

However, there have been other, more sinister sightings elsewhere.

Unlike the Gimp Man of Essex – who appears walking in day time – another bloke with darker intentions has been terrorising sleepy Somerset villages at night.

He was spotted again on Sunday (June 26), which was the 15th reported creepy sighting in recent years.

Kiera Elston, 19, was approached by the rubber rotter with boyfriend Lewis Webb, 21.

She said: "It was the most terrifying experience of my life.

"I’ve got the image in my head of him walking towards me and staring. I dread to think what would have happened if I’d been on my own. I’m still really shaken up by it."

Vigilantes, including Kiera's dad Steve, have now vowed to "hunt" him down.

Previous victim Abi, 25, said when she heard about the latest sighting: "My heart felt like I was running a marathon.

"There was an instant feeling of panic, anxiety and anger again which took me over a year of private counselling and medications to control."

When she encountered the Gimp Man she said he was touching his groin, grunting and breathing heavily.

Despite arresting two people back when he first appeared, police in Somerset never got to the bottom of the mystery.

"If you have any information, dashcam or CCTV footage which could help to identify the man, please call," an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson urged after last weekend's incident.
