The lover of Russia's despotic leader Vladimir Putin has refused to confirm whether or not the 70-year-old really did “poo himself” after falling down the stairs at home.

Yesterday (December 2) we reported how Putin fell down several stairs at his official Kremlin residence and was helped to a nearby couch by his bodyguards.

Personal doctors came to help him and found he had bruised his coccyx, and allegedly discovered he had “cancer of the gastrointestinal tract,” the Telegram channel General SVR claimed.

They also claimed the fall made him defecate involuntarily.

It is not clear how they found cancer while checking him over for a fall, but the Russian Telegram channel has been the source of the ill-health claims since the invasion of Ukraine began.

According to the account, Putin was walking downstairs when he “stumbled and fell to his back, after which he fell on his side and slid down a couple of steps".

Medics “arrived within a few minutes, but could not immediately examine the president”, due to him suffering "oncology of the gastrointestinal tract, as a result of which he already experiences serious problems with digestion” – and the fall caused an “involuntary” reaction.

They added: “Before the examination, the doctors escorted the president to the bathroom and helped to clean up.

But despite the story of Putin's toilet troubles going viral, gold-medal winning Olympic star Alina Kabaeva, 39, has kept quiet about it during a rare appearance.

Opening a new complex in Sochi, she avoided mention of Putin, 70, amid claims he had slipped on the stairs of his Moscow residence, and is suffering from cancer and other health problems.

She also made no direct reference to his war in Ukraine in which 100,000-plus Russians are believed to have been killed or maimed.

"When I was in gymnastics, and an athlete, I could not even dream of such conditions [as you have in this new sports training centre],” she said.

“But as life shows, the impossible is possible.

“And Russia is a country of big opportunities.”

Kabaeva has no official role in Russia.
