Rishi Sunak mercilessly mocked for ‘sounding like Inbetweeners character’

New Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been mercilessly mocked on Twitter for sounding like a character from The Inbetweeners.

Yesterday (Monday, October 24) Sunak was confirmed as the next Conservative Party leader and thus the country's next PM.

It awaits to be seen whether he will outlast Liz Truss' embarrassingly short tenure that came to an abrupt end last week, handing a glorious victory to the Daily Star's very own lettuce.

Unfortunately for Sunak – who becomes the UK's richest PM ever – he is already being slammed as "wet" like Lettuce Liz following an awkward speech yesterday.

A clip of the speech was shared on Twitter by Jonathan Pie, a fictional news reporter portrayed by comedian Tom Walker.

He wrote: "I didn’t realise he was so wet."

Another Twitter user then replied to Pie's tweet saying they "can't unhear" similarities between Rishi's voice and that of Will McKenzie from The Inbetweeners, a nerdy teen dubbed "Briefcase W***er" and played by Simon Bird.

The tweet contained a clip from Sunak's speech, which slowly faded into an image of Will.

And thousands of people appeared to agree with the comparison as it racked up nearly 4,000 retweets and over 20,000 likes.

Twitter users were on fine form in the replies. Some were sharing different clips of Sunak with Will's voice dubbed over the top.

Others even suggested that the characters from the Channel 4 coming-of-age sitcom would do a better job running the country than the Tories.

One tweet read: "I'd have more trust in Will running the country with Neil as education sec, Jay as foreign sec and Simon as chancellor than I do the Conservative govt we have. [sic]."
