Mr Musk took to Twitter to say “he is still sleeping” after President Biden was slammed in a post by Twitter user ‘Electric Cyberfarmer’.
Electric Cyberfarmer posted: “The President of the United States has refused to even acknowledge the four newest American astronauts who helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for St. Jude.” The crew of four astronauts were part of the Inspiration 4 team sent up to space on Mr Musks’ SpaceX Crew Dragon Resilience.

It was the first ever all-civilian crew of amateur astronauts to be sent into space for commercial purposes.

The SpaceX Crew Dragon Resilience landed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida on September 18 to end the mission.,

The private spaceflight had launched the four civilians into orbit earlier this week and was up in orbit for three days.

Inspiration4 mission director Kip O’Keefe said in a post-landing news conference “It’s been an amazing ride for everyone.

“We couldn’t ask for a more successful mission.”

But Mr Biden has remained silent following the historic mission.

The passengers onboard included billionaire Jared Isaacman, Hayley Arceneaux, Dr Sian Proctor and a data engineer Chris Sembroski.

Several milestones were achieved by sending these civilians up into orbit.

Mr Arceneaux, 29, became the youngest American in space and the first person to fly into space with a prosthetic body part.

The mission also involved the first Black woman to serve as a spacecraft pilot.

Another major goal of the Inspiration4 mission was to raise $200 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

It had raised $160.2million by Saturday.

Musk pledged to also pledged to contribute $50million out of his own pocket—raising the campaign’s total to $210million.

Top NASA officials have congratulated Mr Musk and SpaceX, as well as Mr Musks’ space travel rival Jeff Bezos, who shared a congratulatory post on social media.

Bur SpaceX does generally have a good relationship with Washington.

It had previously won a $2.89billion contract to build NASA’s next crewed lunar lander, beating Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and Leidos subsidiary Dynetics.
