Designer “mesh” vests are being sold by celebrity loved Rick Owens for a staggering £350. However packs of four can be picked up on Amazon for £11.95.

Style experts at The Trend Spotter, said: “Mesh tops are an iconic piece of clothing that is making it big this season for menswear.

“Not only is it super stylish, but it is a great way to keep cool when you’re in the blistering heat.

“These fun and fresh shirts make for amazing layering options and can be worn with myriad different patterns and colors for a complex and interesting aesthetic.

“If you don’t want to show off too much skin, you can find a knit that offers the same effect – it looks great with denim and chinos, or even leather trousers if you want to go one step further.”

String vests are one of several formerly passé looks to return to the forefront in recent times, with the controversial mullet revival now several months old.

The eyebrow-raising mullet first became trendy in the 1970s, after it was worn by rock legends David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Keith Richards, and Beatle Paul McCartney.

It features a shorter back and sides with a longer piece hanging down at the back.

England star Waddle helped revive it in the 80s and 90s, with Countdown star Carol Vorderman sporting a women’s version.

But the hairstyle made a shocking comeback in 2021, with style icons Cara Delevingne and Miley Cyrus one of several celebs to be snapped in a fetching mullet.
