A sweet sight! Stunning ‘Strawberry Moon’ is seen rising across the world in beautiful images
- The next full moon available for us all to see will be the Buck Moon sky on July 3
People across the UK were treated to a wonderful sight as a stunning Strawberry Moon rose over the weekend.
Some truly amazing pictures were taken showing the moon in a radiant colour.
One image shows the enormous-looking moon rise over the Darwen Tower in Lancashire.
Another – less orange – moon can be seen rising behind the Victoria Tower in Huddersfield.
Despite what you might think the term ‘Strawberry Moon’ does not mean the full moon is pink, even if it appears that way in the sky.

Deriving its name from the North America strawberry harvesting, which traditionally takes place in June, many cultures have viewed it as a marker to signal the beginning of the warm summer season.
Those hoping to see the Strawberry Moon have now unfortunately missed their chance, however.
The full moon was in view late last night and in the early hours of this morning, at around 4am.
One keen photographer was even able to capture somebody running past the rising moon, which caught an incredible moment.
The moon was also pictured peeking out of some clouds above the Empire State Building in New York.
There are sometimes more than 12 full moons in a year and each corresponds to a full moon name.
So, fear not – the next chance you have to view a full moon in the sky will come on July 3 where the Buck Moon will be on full show.
