Tiger shark eating turtle alive has feast snatched from jaws by hero fishermen

A tiger shark's meaty meal on a helpless sea turtle was dramatically interrupted by a couple of brave heroes.

The fishermen filmed their extraordinary rescue of a loggerhead turtle, which was being thrashed in all directions by a hungry apex predator attempting to scoff it whole.

Kai Survance and a pal were on a fishing boat near Abaco in The Bahamas when they spotted nature at its most violent two years ago in December 2020.

Footage shared on their social media page, kaiowenfishinginc, shows the close-up action as the shark sinks its teeth into the sea turtle from behind.

In a stroke of unbelievable luck for the turtle, its attack nudged it into the path of a pair of daring fishermen, eager to help.

The hard-shelled turtle is seen desperately trying to escape from the beast's razor-sharp teeth by swimming towards their fishing boat in an attempt to free itself.

At one point, it flings its front flippers to push itself up on the boat and is quickly dragged back to the water by the shark.

One of the men can be heard saying: "Get the turtle, get the turtle. We gotta rescue this turtle."

As the shark makes a turn to the left, the turtle manages to break free and floats in the water before the fishermen grab it and relocate it to a safer place.

"Get him out of here, this big damn shark," one said.

"We are now on a turtle rescue duty. That tiger shark was sopping, sopping on this poor turtle."

They drove further away from the spot and released the sea turtle back in the water.

Viewers praised the pair for rescuing the turtle and amazed to see the action of a shark hunting.

"I'm so glad you saved the turtle, great job guys," one said.

Another wrote: "How rare is it to witness a shark trying to eat a turtle."

Tiger sharks are known to be a non-selective feeder, meaning that they can prey on small fish or crabs to bigger size marine animals like porpoises and turtles.
