TikTok star loses custody after husband says green hair makes her a bad parent

A social media star has lost a bitter child custody battle after it was claimed her appearance made her an unfit mum.

Influencer Refa Al-Yemi, who is popular on video platforms Snapchat and TikTok, was denied custody of her four kids after her estranged husband told a court her green hair and tattoos meant she was unable to look after them.

The fitness coach has attracted a huge social media following by sharing health and beauty tips.

Local media reported she was believed to have been kidnapped by relatives for bringing shame on them with her exploits online.

It is thought she was abducted her home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, sparking fears she had become the victim of an "honour killing".

The rumoured incident led to the hashtag #IsRefaKilled? topping the country's Twitter trends and attracting attention from human rights activists.

Police later revealed they had arrested four people in a car in relation to the incident, but that Refa was alive and had in fact taken from her flat in Najran, according to local media.

Whether those arrested were her family members remains unclear.

She is understood to be safe and being looked after by social services.

However, human rights activist Lina Alhathloul took to Twitter to accuse police of mistreating Refa.

She wrote: "Refa was an independent woman. Her male relatives did not like it and abducted her.

"She was found by the police, and instead of being saved, she was put in a care home aka a prison."

Refa lost custody of her children after her husband said her hair colour, tattoos and workouts shared online "proved" she was an unfit parent.
