UK restaurant to hire ‘grape feeder’ but applicant must have ‘gorgeous hands’

A swanky UK restaurant is set to hire the first-ever "grape feeder", but applicants who do not have "gorgeous hands" need not apply.

In a post that one Twitter user was so bewildered by that they asked if it was a "parody", the up market Bacchanalia restaurant, based on Mayfair, London, hopes to hire a grape handler.

The so-called "grape feeder" would be a first-ever role in London, with no other restaurants offering the chance to have a stranger insert grapes into the mouths of paying customers.

Such a crucial piece of the dining experience is set to be delivered on, with Bacchanalia listing an advertisement for the role.

Those hoping to secure themselves the historic position are asked only to apply if they have "gorgeous hands" and a "basic grasp of Greek and Latin".

Despite the tough entry requirements, the successful applicant can be assured of perks from the industry, including "regular manicures" and "the finest food and wine".

The Richard Caring-owned eatery is set to make history should a successful applicant be found, but some were left confused by the role requirements.

One user took to Twitter and asked: "Hang on, is this parody? Serious question."

As it turned out, it is not parody, with Bacchanalia actually providing an Instagram story showcasing an advert running in The Sunday Times, all but confirming their desire to hire a grape feeder.

Another user asked "Is previous experience necessary?", while a third chimed in and described the listing as the "last days of Rome."

Twitter users were unsure on whether or not to take the job listing seriously, with one user writing: "At last, I've found my side hustle".

A number of users took to retweeting the job listing, saying that they had "finally found a way to put my classics degree to use".
