Ukraine’s bees ‘fighting against Putin’ by diffusing grenades left by Russians

Bees are helping Ukraine in the fight against Vladimir Putin's invasion in a surprising turn of events.

Yesterday (Wednesday, October 12) Ukrainian wildlife charity UAnimals took to Facebook to share how insects have been making the streets of their country safer.

The organisation shared two images of what appeared to be grenades.

In the first, the grenades appeared in a beehive coated in some form of substance and attached to several wires. The second showed someone holding one of the grenades, taped up and pinned to prevent it going off

Although it isn't clear exactly where in Ukraine the photos were taken, it's safe to assume it's an area formerly occupied by Russia given what UAnimals said.

The charity explained that the explosives had been left in the beehive structure by "Russian occupiers".

However, given that the bees had been hard at work producing honey, some of the sticky substance had jammed the igniters and prevented a fatal blast.

The Facebook post read: "Bee honey saves us from explosions.

"These bees took care of the safety of their hive and the people who would remove its cover in advance.

"Therefore, for half a year, the igniters of the grenades left there by the Russian occupiers were filled with honey – and they did not explode."

Several Ukrainians took to the comments section to celebrate the fact bees were on their side against Putin.

"Even our bees are wiser than Russia," one wrote.

A second said: "We have all living things at war. Glory to Ukraine!"

This comes after other Ukrainian animals were filmed taking revenge on Russian soldiers – in a much less innocent manner.

A group of pigs as well as a pet cat and dog have been filmed dining out of the dead bodies of fallen invaders.

The clips were shared on the infamous Cargo 200 Telegram Channel, where Ukrainians routinely post gory images of Russian invaders to strike fear into their enemies' hearts.
