A woman who was hit full speed by a rollercoaster in a theme park disaster while trying to retrieve her phone has woken up from a coma two months after the incident.

Shylah Rodden, 26, suffered brain damage and a host of other serious injuries when she was struck by the Rebel Coaster rollercoaster at the Royal Melbourne Show on September 25.

She was reportedly trying to pick up her fallen phone from underneath the tracks.

The impact saw her hurtle nine metres into the air before she came crashing down on the ground below as horrified visitors watched on.

Shylah – who was placed in a medically induced coma in critical condition at Royal Melbourne Hospital – was left "brain damaged" with "horrific injuries" to her pelvis, arms, legs, back and neck.

And now, the hospital has revealed the young woman is now awake and in a stable condition. Her condition was downgraded from critical to serious on October 11.

But a family friend told News.com.au that she was "still not out of the woods".

After she was rushed to hospital doctors reportedly told her parents they "haven't seen anything as bad as this for a long time".

Her devastated dad said at the time: "There's hardly a thing that's not broken."

Victoria Police's initial statement said: "It appears, at this early stage, the woman, believed aged in her 20s, may have walked on and entered the track to try and retrieve a dropped phone before she was hit by a rollercoaster carriage, about 5:45pm.

"Sadly, the woman was then found injured on the ground."

Dad Alan told the Daily Mail: "The injuries are horrific. Horrific. She's brain damaged. It's pelvic, her arms, legs, back, neck – there's hardly a thing that's not broken.

"I just can't work out how the hell so much damage has been done.

"Even the doctors have said they haven't seen anything as bad as this for a long time."
