This is the bizarre moment a tourist screaming in shock when a monkey rips off her wig by mistake.
The woman, known as Ms Xu, and her friends were visiting the Wulongkou Scenic Area in the city of Jiyuan, central China during the Lunar New Year holiday on Monday, February 15.
Video taken by her friend shows Ms Xu, who dresses in a beige coat and wears a camel baker boy cap, trying to feed a baby monkey with some snacks.
She leans on the ledge and waves at the little primate after it snatches the food from her hands.
Little did she know, an adult monkey approaches to her back at the same time and launches a sudden attack from behind.
The mischievous animal extends its arms and surprisingly, rips off Ms Xu's long fake tresses.
Ms Xu quickly turns around and screams in fear before running off to her friends and leaving the wig on the ledge.
Her friends can be heard letting out a giggle while the stunned monkey looks taken aback by the woman's scream.
Animal stories
Ms Xu said she just wanted to take a video of her feeding the monkeys at the suggestion of a friend, but instead captured the comic attack that quickly became viral on social media.
"Both I and the monkey were shocked," she added.
She also explained that she was afraid of feeding the big monkey and decided to feed the little one instead.
Monkeys are known to be quite aggressive and it is ill-advised to provoke or feed them when encountered in the wild or in scenic spots.
Feeding wild animals could also harm them as human snacks are often not suitable for animals, and they could also develop dependent behaviours, according to local wildlife officials.
