Abandoned hotel where celebs like John Lennon used to stay frozen in time – with TVs and lifts still working | The Sun

A HOTEL that John Lennon and Yoko Ono once stayed in has been frozen in time for more than a decade.

The accommodation still has electricity and the TVs and lifts still work, providing a glimpse at how it used to look before it was closed down.

The Corbett Arms hotel in Tywyn, Wales is a Georgian, Grade II listed building that has been left as it was in 2011, when its doors were closed to the public.

Tiktoker and urban explorer Adam Mark (@adam_mark_explores) entered the property and filmed himself having a look around, revealing what it looks like inside.

In a video shared on Tiktok, he showed how some of the rooms look the same as they did when the hotel would have been up and running, with beds still made.

The electricity in the property still works, with televisions still able to be turned on.

A telephone in one of the rooms even produces a dial tone when Adam lifts it to his ear.

Other rooms however haven't fared quite as well, with mould and grime building up and taking over some of the remaining beds.

A piano is one of a number of pricier items that remain left unattended in the abandoned property.

Adam's video has been seen more than 20,000 times, with plenty of people suggesting that someone could still live in some of the abandoned rooms.

One wrote: "You could literally move in."

Another viewer was more concerned about the electricity.

They added: "I wonder who is being billed and how much they owe by now."

Reports suggest that the building was left in a will to someone who has since died, and it's not clear who owns it.

Locals want it to be operating as a hotel again, instead of as an abandoned building without purpose.

One resident told the Cambrian News: “I want it to be restored. It’s a listed building and it’s important to the town."

Pictures show the hotel back in its former glory, when former Beatle John Lennon treated his wife Yoko Ono to a visit.

The photo shows the pair in the garden of the hotel with Lennon’s six-year-old son Julian and Ono’s five-year-old daughter Kyoko Cox.

The family were visiting before attending King Charles' investiture, which took place in Caernarfon Castle on 1 July 1, 1969.

The ceremony formally presented the title of Prince of Wales to the then 20-year-old Charles.

Lennon sent a postcard to bandmate Ringo Starr from Tywyn on June 23, with a picture of the young prince on it, simply saying "hello".
