Another airline forced to cancel hundreds of flights | The Sun

ANOTHER airline has been forced to cancel hundreds of flights due to strike action.

German flag carrier Lufthansa has confirmed that nearly all of their flights at Frankfurt and Munich will be cancelled tomorrow.

Airports including Berlin, Bremen, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover and Stuttgart are also expected to be affected.

The cancellations have been caused by a strike from German ground staff.

It is estimated that 678 flights will be cancelled across the two major airports, affecting around 134,000 passengers.

The airline confirmed that passengers affected will be contacted for alternative flights, although this is expected to be limited.

The airlines cancelling flights: from Ryanair and easyJet to British Airways

While the majority of flights affected are tomorrow, a number have already been cancelled today, and could have a knock on affect on Thursday and Friday flights too.

Lufthansa has advised passengers against travelling to the airport if they haven't rebooked their flights as there will be no service desks, and has also advised it could take "days" to get passengers onto any connecting flights through the airports.

The airline has already been forced to cancel thousands of flights due to staff shortages, and warned that passengers can expect the cancellations until 2023.

Lufthansa board member Detlef Kayser told local media: "Unfortunately, we will hardly be able to realistically achieve a short-term improvement now in the summer.
