Another country puts Britain on its travel red list because of the spread of Omicron

ISRAEL is the latest country to put Britain on their travel ban list because of the spread of Omicron.

From Wednesday, Israeli residents cannot travel to Britain, due to concerns over the spread of the new Omicron variant.

Brits have already been banned from travelling to Israel since November 28, after the country imposed a two-week ban on all foreigners entering the country.

That ban will continue under the new red list rule, which also prevent Israelis from traveling to Britain.

Denmark and Belgium have also been added to Israel's red list, along with roughly 50 African countries.

The announcement was made by senior Israeli health official Sharon Alroy-Preis in a news conference last night.

He said Britain, Denmark and Belgium were being placed on the red list because of the "significant spread of the Omicron variant there".

Several airlines have cancelled flights as uncertainty around travel continues.

British Airways has slashed more than 2,000 flights from its schedule until March.

The airline has blamed a reduced demand for air travel thanks to the pandemic – not Omicron directly.

Ryanair has also scrapped flights, with all flights to and from Morocco cancelled until February 1, 2022.

And the boss of TUI had warned that they may be the next airline to cut flights if travel uncertainty continues.

But there is hope for holidays as Sajid Javid says the UK's travel restrictions could end "very soon".

Last night, Boris Johnson vowed that all adults will receive a Covid booster jab this month, as the country tries to curb the impact of Omicron.

Addressing the nation in a pre-recorded speech, the Prime Minister urged Brits to get their vaccines and warned the country is facing a "tidal wave" of Omicron cases.
