Another EU country lifts Covid restrictions for British tourists

ANOTHER country has lifted more of their Covid travel rules for tourists.

Belgium has announced changes to its restrictions and entry rules as Covid cases fall.

From today, the country is downgrading to code yellow, which means reduced Covid rules are in place.

Tourists will no longer have to show a Covid certificate to enter bars, restaurants and cafes.

A statement issued by Belgian authorities says: "From March 7, the corona barometer will switch to code yellow. That has been decided by the Consultation Committee.

"For example, the Covid Safe Ticket will disappear in the catering industry, and restrictions for events will expire. "

Wearing face masks is recommended, but only mandatory on public transport and in healthcare buildings if over 12.

From March 11, entry rules are also changing – although Brits will not yet be included.

Currently, vaccinated tourists only have to fill in a Passenger Locator Form to enter Belgium.

This will no longer be needed from Friday for anyone arriving from a country on the EU's "white list".

However, the UK is not yet on the list meaning Brits will need to continue filling in the form for now.

Federal Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke warned: "That white list may come as a bit of a surprise: the US, the UK or Japan are currently not included on that list."

Unvaccinated Brits still need a negative Covid test or proof of recovery to enter the country.

Lots of holiday hotspots have been relaxing their Covid restrictions in recent weeks.

Spain has changed its entry requirements to allow some unvaccinated Brits to enter.

People who recovered from Covid within the last 180 days are now able to visit Spain, even if they've only had one of zero jabs.

And Dubai no longer requires tests from vaccinated arrivals along with Italy and Cyprus.
