From a retro-styled motel in California decked out with love hearts galore to a luxury hotel in New York that makes for a more sophisticated play date, there’s a spread of pink-hued places to suit all tastes.

Trixie Motel, California 

The Trixie Motel in California is home to seven custom themed rooms, with the pinkest being the Queen of Hearts suite


This retro-style room features a queen sized bed with a pink heart-shaped headboard, heart-print paper adorning the walls and there is even a heart-themed stained glass window in the ensuite bathroom

Nestled in the heart of Palm Springs, California, the Trixie Motel is described as a ‘pink paradise’ inspired by the American drag queen Trixie Mattel. 

The highly Instagrammable spot is home to seven custom themed rooms, with the pinkest being the Queen of Hearts suite. 

This retro-style room features a queen sized bed with a pink heart-shaped headboard, heart-print paper adorning the walls and there is even a heart-themed stained glass window in the ensuite bathroom. 

The motel’s blurb reads: ‘There is only one way to describe our Queen of Hearts Room – she’s fit for a QUEEN!! If you are royalty, this room is for you.’  

Other themed rooms at the adult-only motel include the Flower Power Suite and the Yeehaw Cowgirl Suite.

Kay Thompson’s Eloise: A Book for Precocious Grown Ups and its mischievous young heroine has been delighting readers since its publication in 1955.

In 2010, the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York had the novel idea of opening an eye-catching Eloise suite, which was fitting, because in the book, the character lives on the top floor of the hotel.

It features outrageous and fun décor in shades of pink and black by celebrated fashion designer Betsey Johnson. 

The bed has a sparkly pink headboard and there’s a large neon sign reading ‘Eloise’ above it. 

The chairs and lampshades feature floral pink fabric, while the bathroom is completely pink too. To contrast with the palette of pinks, a zebra-print carpet runs throughout. 

The sugar pink suite costs from $2,045 a night, with the rate including an Eloise-themed afternoon tea, a $100 gift card to the Eloise shop, an Eloise Book and more.

Originally constructed in 1891, as a headquarters for Riggs National Bank, this Washington D.C. hotel makes a grand impression from the get go with a mix of period features and soaring ceilings. 

In total, the converted bank offers 181 jewel-box rooms and suites, decked out with bold interiors. All of the rooms feature mini bars secreted in safety-deposit boxes as a playful nod to the building’s history.

The top tier rooms come in the form of the First Lady Suites, which were ‘inspired by the eccentricities of four former First Ladies.’

The hotel states that each of the four suites has ‘a unique personality of its own, offering guests access to features including a freestanding soaking tub and separate living rooms providing plenty of space to relax.’

The Watergate Hotel is the best-known part of the Watergate complex in Washington DC’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood

The sizeable room includes a living room with chandelier, a dining table that can seat six and plush pink seating areas

The Watergate Hotel is the best-known part of the Watergate complex in Washington DC’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood.

The building, designed by Italian architect Luigi Moretti, neighbors the Kennedy Center For The Performing Arts on the Potomac River banks.

It first opened in 1967, welcoming high-end guests such as Elizabeth Taylor, then-Representative Bob Dole and the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Five burglars were caught breaking into the Democratic National Committee’s offices on June 17, 1972. They had checked into rooms 214 and 314 of the Watergate Hotel, using aliases.

Among them was a security coordinator for the Republican National Committee and the Committee for the Re-election of the President, James W McCord Jr. Then-President Richard Nixon resigned two years later in August 1974. Following the incident, the hotel was bought and sold several times, and underwent various iterations.

Then on June 1, 2016 it reopened its doors as an upscale hotel and once again welcomed guests. For sweeping views along with some subtle pink hues, check into the hotel’s two-room Rose Suite on the 14th floor.

This locally owned hotel, which is five blocks from downtown, has 75 ‘mid-century Scandinavian-inspired’ hotel rooms with ‘luxe-to-less offerings.’

There a rooms to suit all budgets, from cozy ‘cabins’ with shared bathrooms to pool side suites with spacious balconies. 

Catering to Barbie and Ken, there’s the option pink or blue interiors, so make sure you put in your request before checking in.
