Theme parks have been able to open since April 12, when outdoor hospitality restrictions were lifted.

This included other outdoor venues such as zoos, but the lockdown dates only applied to England, not Wales and Scotland.

But now, overnight staycations and hotel stays are resuming from May 17, allowing groups to go away together (two households or rule of six from different households) and then from June 21 there will be no limit on groups.

It means families will be able to enjoy a great value short break at a theme park of their choice. Here are the best deals from May 17 through summer.

Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World

Based in Hampshire in The New Forest, Peppa Pig World is part of Paultons Park, with a combined total of 70 rides and attractions across both parks.

The park's new themed world, Tornado Springs recently opened and the new area covers four acres, with eight new rides and experiences, including the UK’s first free-spinning rollercoaster of its type.

Those who book a Paultons Park break can stay for two nights also get a second Park Day entry for free. Mid-week breaks start from £52 per person.

Alton Towers

The theme park and resort complex in Staffordshire has 2021 short breaks from just £88 per family mid-week – and stays at Alton Towers Hotel, Enchanted Village Woodland Lodges and Splash Landings Hotel are all included.

Resort packages include breakfast, evening entertainment and a free round of nine-hole Extraordinary Golf.

Those who want to visit for the day can make savings on day tickets if they book online at least five days in advance. It means a ticket that would normally cost from £53 on the day will be reduced to £34 online.
