WITH staycations on the cards for many of us this year, Brits have been busy booking up coastal breaks this summer – meaning prices have surged for trips in peak season.
There are plenty of seaside resorts that won't break the bank though.

According to new data from VoucherCodes.co.uk, the most in demand UK staycation spot that offers families great value for money is Whitstable in Kent.
This was based on the average cost of a collection of beach day goodies – including an ice cream, a portion of fish & chips, a bucket & spade and a pint of beer – which costs just £15.61 on average.
In second place was Margate, Kent with an average seaside essentials cost of £15.74, while Broadstairs, also in Kent, took third place with an average cost of £16.05.

Kent clearly has a lot to offer Brits looking for a budget coastal break, as it's home to the top three destinations on the list.
But there are other great value spots in other destinations across the UK.
Weymouth in Dorset, Filey in Yorkshire, Llandudno in Wales, Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset, Southend-on-Sea in Essex, Newquay in Cornwall, Morecambe in Lancashire and Bournemouth in Dorset made up the remainder of the top ten best value seaside resorts.

The research, from savings site, VoucherCodes.co.uk, analysed the cost of a regular portion of cod & chips, a scoop of ice cream in a cone, a draught pint and a bucket & spade at shops in 20 of the UK’s most popular seaside destinations to find out which resort offers the best value for money.
The research found that Salcombe is the most expensive location, with the seaside essentials setting you back £24.95 on average, costing 60 per cent more than in Whitstable.
Also considered to be a pricier destination is Dartmouth, where visitors can expect to pay £22.41 on average for the items, including a whopping £4.80 for a draught pint, the priciest across all 20 beach resorts.
