Budget airline launches new low-cost flights to Thailand – from £170 one way

IF you fancy a holiday to Thailand for some winter sun, you can now make the most of bargain flights.

Low-cost airline Scoot has announced they will launch flights from Gatwick to Bangkok next month – and they start from just £170 each way.

The new flights will start from December 16, with two flights a week during the whole month, and resuming with three flights a week from March.

The airline is a low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, but passengers will have a "no-frills" experience rather than a more luxury one often attributed to the airline.

The flights will be on the Boeing 797 Dreamliners with economy and Scootplus cabins.

Passengers will have to pay for extras such as in-seat power, inflight WiFi, seat selection and checked baggage, although get two pieces of cabin baggage under 10kg included.

Campbell Wilson, Scoot chief executive, said: “The progressive relaxation of border restrictions presents new opportunities for airlines and travellers alike.

“With the ability to now travel quarantine-free between the UK and Thailand, Scoot is excited to introduce the only low-cost option between Bangkok and London.”

Fully vaccinated Brits won't have to quarantine on arrival or on their return either, although will need a negative Covid test when arriving in Thailand.

As with all international arrivals, vaccinated Brits have to book and take a Covid test on day two after they come home and fill out a passenger locator form including details of the Covid test reference number.

Holidays to Thailand are still cheap for Brits who want to make the most of a hot trip abroad since it was removed from the red list.

Tour operators have deals for under £500, with return flights and hotels included.

And with some five-star hotels less than £30 a night, Brits can get some of the cheapest Thailand deals than ever.
