FAMILIES are looking ahead to their next holiday, and Cornwall is one of the most popular UK destinations for Brits.
Here is everything you need to know about holidays to the seaside destination right now.
Can I go on holiday right now?
No – holidays both in the UK and abroad are currently banned by the government.
The UK lockdown only allows essential travel, which does not include holidays.
This has been in place since January 4 and will be reviewed by the Prime Minister on February 22.
When can I go on holiday?
This is yet to be confirmed, with MPs divided regarding holidays.
Trips abroad have been warned against for the summer holidays by the majority of government officials, although tour operators and airlines such as Ryanair and TUI are more positive.
Regarding UK holidays, there is more positivity for them to resume by the summer.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said it could be a "Great British Summer," adding that he has already booked his holiday to Cornwall.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said that travel restrictions may only be lifted when all of the UK is vaccinated.
Currently, 13m Brits have had their first jab, with plans for the entire country to be vaccinated by the end of August.
Should I book a holiday to Cornwall?
Anyone wanting to book a holiday should do so with caution – there is currently no end date to the lockdown so it could be cancelled at the last minute.
However, many hotels and holiday parks are offering flexible bookings and full refunds, or free date changes is anything relating to coronavirus affects it.
Demand is also seeing parts of Cornwall sell out during the peak seasons, while prices are being driven up to do limited capacity.
Visit Cornwall's Malcom Bell told Sun Online Travel that people are even being put on waiting lists for destinations in the area: "The demand is there – there are lots of people asking to be put on waiting lists for self-catered places.
"People are phoning up, saying 'I know you are fully booked but will you take my phone number in case something comes up in July?'"
"I am predicting we will be full up."
Holiday rental company Cottages.com had more than 8,000 bookings over one weekend, with consecutive record booking days on Saturday and Sunday.
Nearly half of all holidays sold were for the peak summer months of July and August, while nearly a quarter were for staycation getaways in Cornwall and Devon.
If booking a holiday to Cornwall, it is advised to check the terms and conditions for coronavirus protection.
Summer holiday prices are now costing thousands due to demand.
One campsite in Suffolk has a week camping in a tent for £800, while a cottage in Dorset for seven nights is only available for £6,000.
