Cyprus scraps strict Covid rules for Brit tourists – and it's good news for unvaccinated travellers too

CYPRUS is the latest country to announce it is relaxing its Covid rules, in a boost to Brits with plans to jet off on holiday.

From April 18, the popular holiday destination is changing its entry requirements for unvaccinated travellers, making it easier for them to visit the country.

Currently, unvaccinated Brits must take a PCR test within 72 hours before travelling or a rapid antigen test 24 hours before, plus a PCR test upon arrival in Cyprus and must isolate until they get the results.

But from April 18, the test on arrival and isolation requirements will be scrapped, so unvaccinated travellers can enter with just a negative test.

The testing requirements remain the same, so Brits will need either a negative PCR taken within 72 hours before travelling, or a negative rapid antigen taken within 24 hours before travelling.

Also on April 18, the country is ditching the Cyprus Flight Pass, an online form that currently has to be filled in by all arrivals.

Before that happens, Cyprus has announced it is ditching its vaccine pass, which will come as welcome news to any Brits who are visiting the country during the Easter holidays.

From April 11, people will no longer need to use the Safe Pass, which is currently required to enter restaurants, shopping centres and sports venues.

However, Cyprus's health minister has warned people that Covid is still prevalent and the relaxation of rules shouldn't be "misinterpreted".

According to local media, Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas said: "Today's announcement of relaxing the measure must not be misinterpreted.
