FAMILIES who set sail on Disney cruise ships in the US will soon have to make sure their kids are vaccinated to be allowed to board.
Disney Cruise Line guests aged five and over will be required to show proof of Covid vaccination from January 13, 2022.
Kids younger than five will have to have proof of a negative Covid test which is taken before they board the ship.
This is likely to cause problems for Brit families booked on Disney cruises in the US, as children under 12 in the UK are not currently eligible for a vaccine.
There is no indication that the new rules will impact UK cruise staycations with Disney, but Sun Online Travel has contacted Disney for clarification.
However, Disney fans have been left devastated by the news, with many complaining on social media.
Kay Reavley wrote: "Absolutely devastating for people from the UK. We've had our cruise booked for so long, so looking forward to it and now we can't go.
"We've booked and paid for all flights etc to our cruise port. Gutted."
Sarah-Jayne Powell wrote: "Thanks Disney for ruining our planned trip.
"The UK doesn't offer vaccinations to kids that young, and even if they did I ain't making mine take it."
Joy Usry Sullivan added: "This is just absurd."
However, not everyone was let down by the news and some Facebook users praised Disney's decision.
Kathleen Lambert wrote: "Wonderful news and a big step towards making cruises safe and relaxing restrictions enough for them to also be worthwhile and fun."
Jennifer Addleman added: "Love it!!! Keeping everyone as safe as possible."
This is the second time a last minute change to vaccination rules on Disney Cruise Lines has affected family bookings.
In April, the entertainment giant announced all adult passengers had to be fully vaccinated to be eligible for their trip.
The decision left families devastated as, at the time, the UK government had just started vaccinating people over 40, with younger people still unable to be jabbed.
Many families were unable to board the ships as they were not double jabbed by the time the first cruise liner departed from Liverpool in July.
