Eight abandoned piglets are now local stars on a popular Mexican beach

You may have heard about the famous ‘pig beach’ in the Bahamas – where you can swim alongside the creatures.

Perhaps it’s on your bucket list for future travels.

But it turns out there’s another piggy beach in Mexico.

In fact, it’s home to some orphaned piglets – who are now thriving after a difficult start to life.

Pig Beach, found in Progreso within Yucatan State, was born after local authorities rescued eight little piggies.

And now the animals are a hit with the locals.

Every day at noon, the pigs are taken out of their pen and are free to swim and roam around – not to mention get some attention from visitors.

The pigs will remain at the beach until they are fully grown – and when they hit adulthood, they will be moved to a place for larger animals.

The team behind Pig Beach say they hope the descendants of these rescued pigs will come back to visit in future.
