FLYING from one of three airports could save families hundreds on the price of their summer holidays.
Depending on where you live, it may be cheaper for holidaymakers from England to fly from airports like Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Glasgow.
This is because school term dates in Scotland differ from other parts of the UK.
Schools in Scotland return back to the classroom on August 21, which leaves two weeks of potential flight savings for families willing to drive across the border.
Last summer research from Skyscanner revealed that flying from Edinburgh Airport instead of Newcastle, if heading to Alicante, could save a family of four up to £336.
The Sun Online Travel team tested out the airport swap and found that there were savings to be made.

Flights for a family of four flying direct from Edinburgh Airport to Naples between August 22 to 27 cost £484.
Prices rose to £1,064 when flying from Newcastle to Naples (although this included a layover).
Meanwhile flights from Glasgow Airport to Alicante, between August 28 to September 3, cost £452 for a family of four whereas flights from Newcastle cost £708.
Savings can also be made from Aberdeen Airport too, with flights to Faro costing £248 for a family of four in August, whereas flights from Newcastle totalled £636 for the same week.

While it seems that flights from Scottish airports can be cheaper, holidaymakers driving from further afield will need to add petrol and airport parking costs into their budget.
Further savings can also be made by travelling at the end of August and the beginning of September when flight prices tend to drop.
Travel expert Naveen Dittakavi, who is also the founder of Next Vacay, recommends flying between Tuesday and Thursday for the best holiday savings.
He said: "Tuesday to Thursday are the better days to fly and you want to avoid flying during peak season, so summer is obviously going to be more expensive around the holidays when the flight prices get bumped up."
