Hold your horses… Before you retreat inside and binge on Netflix’s latest offerings, may we remind you that summer isn’t over yet.
Far from it.
Even Elvis (not the real one of course) is making an appearance in Yarmouth at his very own festival, so don’t give up on August just yet.
But if you’re not a fan of The King, no fear. Why not book a trip to Paris the easy way or head over to Oxfordshire Park Fair?
Or if you’re planning future trips, make sure you get your hands on these handy essentials to make the most out of your travels.
Whatever your style, make this summer fun with the best travel escapes and buys.
Elvis Festival, Great Yarmouth
Inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s recent biopic? Make for Great Yarmouth for the UK’s biggest Elvis Festival.
Held between September 9 and 16 at Parkdean’s Vauxhall Holiday Park, the week-long event features a packed line-up exploring his life, music, film and memorabilia, with live band performances, cabaret, American guest interviews, Elvis TV and radio streams, fancy dress, how-to dance sessions and a fashion show.
Get accommodation at Parkdean’s Vauxhall Holiday Park, including access to the festival, from £135pp.
Papier’s Travel Journal Range
Chic online stationery brand Papier has launched a range of travel journals, perfect for organising all your future trips.
With separate sections for budgets, itineraries, activities, accommodation and packing lists – as well as those all-important blank pages for scribbling down memories and special moments – they come in a range of colourful covers and can even be personalised.
Buy it for £26 from Papier.
Book a trip to Paris on Uber
Well, it’s not quite an Uber to Paris – although that would have been quite the drunken taxi request – but Uber is launching a service where you can book Eurostar tickets via its app.
Part of its new Uber Travel feature, this facility is powered by transportation platform Omio and will see users able to book tickets on the cross-European train service.
Whether you fancy Paris, Lille, Brussels or Amsterdam, by the end of August you’ll be able to book your trip and have the journey added into your smart travel itinerary for easy access.
Chipolo One Spot
Worried about finding your luggage after a flight? The hot new item to buy is a tracker, which you can attach to your bag, where it will work with a location finding app (in this case, the Apple Find My network) to let you know where it is.
The brightly coloured Chipolo One Spot can also be slipped inside a passport holder or wallet, so if you’ve mislaid either you should soon find out where you left them.
Buy it for £25 from Chipolo.
Oxfordshire Park Fair
Brand new Oxfordshire event Park Fair is taking the concept of the country fair to the next level. Forget lame raffles and coconut shies, here you’ll find a line-up of top wellness, lifestyle and fashion names, from designers such as Rixo and Desmond & Dempsey, African homewares from Hadeda, and high-end skincare from Aurelia London.
There will also be entertainment via roaming musicians, fairground rides, kwik cricket, family yoga and a host of workshops and masterclasses, with food and drink from the likes of Double Dutch cocktails and local caterers Quince & Clover.
From August 18 to 21. Buy an adult ticket from £20 at Park Fair.
