Holidaymakers in Majorca filmed hoarding stacks of sunbeds to stop other hotel guests getting them first | The Sun

A BRIT has filmed scenes described as a "worst nightmare" as holidaymakers in Majorca rush to grab sun loungers for a day by the pool.

Every summer, people are seen squabbling over sunbed space at resorts in popular holiday hostpots.

This year is already proving no different, with tourists already captured racing and challenging each other to get the best poolside sunbed.

One of the latest examples was captured by a Brit called Pete, who shared his footage to Tiktok, where he posts as @tattoopete0.

While on holiday in Majorca, Pete captured scenes he described as "absolute chaos" as holidaymakers were seen hoarding stacks of sun loungers by the side of the pool to stop others from getting them first.

His video, captured in Cala D'or has been seen by plenty of other people, none of whom said it looked like a good way to spend a holiday.

Etiquette and elegance expert Katarina, who shares her expert opinions about manners on TikTok at @katarina.etiquette, explained when it's okay to reserve the loungers.

In the footage, she said: "If you're staying at a hotel, avoid blocking the sunbeds if you're not planning on staying. It's disrespectful toward other guests.

"Unless the hotel has a reservation system in place, only occupy the sunbeds when you're staying by the pool."

Guests are also well within their rights to remove other people's towels if they're not back within a certain amount of time, according to another etiquette expert William Hanson.

He told the Mirror: "Reserving sun loungers with a towel for longer than 30 minutes is a big no-no, beyond that grace period it’s first come first served."

However, there are some caveats to that 30 minute grace period.

For instance, if someone is actually using the pool, then the lounger is still theirs to use.

Holidaymakers have even taken to reserving spots on the ground at some resorts.

Some hotel guests were filmed queueing up to be the first to put their towels down in Tenerife.
